Every day is a brand new beginning. Rising to the bright warm rays of the sun, the chirping of the birds ,veiled in the branches of distant trees, and the pleasant fragrance of dew mizzled lawn gives us an ethereal pleasure and puts up an instant smile on our face every morning…..Sounds like a dream right?!Why does it??

A practical morning is pretty much like – wake up, alarmed!, check mails when still in bed, get ready, hog up or even skip breakfast and rush off to work. We are all bereaved of happiness and peace in life. We are privy to the technological developments and are climbing the ladder of economy, literacy and the likes. Yet, are we really aware and happy about where we are?? Do we even have a minute to stop and think about it? We may pretend that we are busy and we don’t have even a minute to spare. The fact ,though, is that we do have loads of leisure time; however, we restrain from thinking about ourselves(in the real sense). Some of us would have had a few fugacious flashes of thoughts on where we are; but why do those thoughts not linger in for long? Its because we let go!!
What stops us from getting involved in such thoughts is a premonition, a fear of failure, a fear to take risks, a fear of compromising mere existence for a rough path to pursue passion. Every single one of us have an ideal vision of where we want to be, some may even call it their fantasy. However, very few even try to attempt to start a journey to reach the destination. Those chancers are mostly given titles like weirdos, Psychopaths, mavericks; but deep inside, we can’t deny the fact that, they are self-loving people who know what and what not to be selfish about and take “The first step”, pause and think, the most difficult one indeed, to reach their “ideal self”.
Pause and think – the easiest solution to pretty much all problems, the very first step to become self aware. When you start talking to yourself and spending time for yourself, you discover many latent phases of yourself. We seldom do this or seldom show perseverance in doing this because this mostly leads us to the fact that we don’t want to be where we are. This is when we get the premonition and fear, stated earlier. Never mind! That’s how it is meant to be. That’s where we begin. It’s just an exercise. So then, resume your work. Proceed. When you keep doing this with patience and perseverance you will eventually find the answer to what you want in life. Also, at one point in time, you will become equipped with the fortitude to pursue the path and reach your “GOAL”.
Now, here is a caution!!We often do this mistake of inferring what we want to, from advices we get, rather than having an open mind and comprehending the speaker’s intention. On top of it we feel happy that we have a person to apportion blame if we fail. Firstly, we should be brave enough to take complete responsibility of our thoughts and actions. Secondly, we should understand the fact that “Self-loving” is way different from being cynical. Melissa Deuter, clinical assistant professor of psychiatry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio explicates this. "Selfish is an ugly word but it can mean two different things," she says. "One connotation is that you’re unkind and inconsiderate of others. The other is that you take responsibility for getting your personal, emotional and physical needs met, and that’s an important part of becoming an adult.”. The hitch here is that, the line between self-love and being cynical is very thin that we are at times allured ,by fame, greed and what nots , to cross over and then we become completely inhumane and ruthless.
So all I am trying to say here is simple. Just take a break and think. Take the first step to self-awareness. Spend a few minutes for yourself everyday. Do this simple exercise - Pause. Think. Proceed…
